The moment he opens his eyes, a shell explodes right beside him.

Gu Zheng, a 21st-century special forces soldier, transmigrates into the body of an Eighth Route Army company commander trapped behind enemy lines. His company has been whittled down from 120 men to just 23. Their ammunition is nearly gone, and a Japanese battalion is closing in around them.

All he has are seven grenades.

Everyone thinks they're doomed. Then Gu Zheng ties the seven grenades together and turns them into a directional mine.

"We're not running today. We're fighting our way back."

That night, he uses 23 men to tear through the Japanese encirclement. Li Yunlong claps him on the shoulder and says, "You've got guts, kid."

From then on, Jinxi Northwest has a company commander who fears nothing.

Storming blockhouses, blowing up strongholds, ambushing supply convoys: he takes on the battles no one else dares fight and tackles the toughest challenges others can't overcome.
