The Entire Court Is Full of My Enemies, Yet the Emperor Is My Big Brother

After transmigrating to the Great Yong dynasty, Xiao Jingming finds the national treasury so empty even a mouse could starve in it, while the emperor is so poor his dragon robe is covered in patches.

Appointed to save the dynasty in its hour of peril, Xiao Jingming establishes the Imperial Debt Collection Bureau and becomes Great Yong's first ruthless debt collector!

Other officials keep the peace to make money. Xiao Jingming sends the Embroidered Uniform Guard to people's doors to seize their property! Other merchants obey the law. Xiao Jingming establishes royal monopolies and pulls the powerful clans up by the roots!

On his first day in office, he brings in a million taels for the treasury. A month later, the chief grand secretary is so furious he has to pawn his pants.

With mountains of impeachment memorials piled up in the Imperial Study, the court historian interviews him to his face.

Xiao Jingming sneers. "I spend the emperor's principal and share the crown prince's profits. What's wrong with being a little brazen?"

The Nine-Thousand-Year-Old of the Eastern Depot draws his blade. "Lord Xiao is practically my own brother. What's wrong with raiding your homes?"

The crown prince sticks up for his favorite. "Master Xiao is teaching me the art of ruling. What's wrong with confiscating your land?"

The scheming emperor looks at the eighty million taels in annual revenue and sighs. "He gives me far too much. What's wrong with you ministers dying for me?"
