In the Name of the People: The Qi Family Bloodline Begins in Huangpu

Amid the snow and wind on Guying Ridge, Qi Tongwei ended his humiliating life with a single shot.

He had schemed and crawled his way through half a lifetime, bowing and discarding every shred of dignity to escape the fate of a lowborn peasant, yet he could never evade his destiny as a pawn. Abandoned by everyone, he met his end by gunshot.

Only as he lay dying did he finally understand: it was never his ability that had failed him, but his humble origins, without roots or connections, and the fate of generations of ancestors who had meekly endured, with no one willing to fight for the family's chance at survival!

When he opened his eyes again, he was reborn in 1924, in the chaos of Republican-era China, inhabiting the body of his timid, conservative grandfather, Qi Lianshan, who was content with life in the countryside.

The land was shattered, the torrents of a chaotic age were surging in, and the Whampoa Military Academy, the only ladder by which the poor could defy fate, had opened its doors.

The original Qi Lianshan feared war and shunned the world, coldly rejecting the chance to enlist and serve his country. A fellow villager berated him: Generation after generation, the Qi family has meekly survived. Every one of you has been a peasant for others to trample!

Given a second life, the resentment of two lifetimes burned through him.

He would not lie flat, settle for mere survival, or remain an insignificant insect in a chaotic age!

In his previous life, the powerful had manipulated him, fate had swept him along, and he had been powerless to choose.

In this life, he would seize his place in the game, shatter class barriers, and defy fate!

Enter Whampoa, earn military honors, seize power, and pacify a chaotic age!

From then on, he would cut off the Qi family's generations of humiliation. With the path of an iron-blooded warlord, he would protect his clan, secure their future, and bring peace to the land. Never again would he let others manipulate him, and never again would he live on his knees!
