Great Ming: The Imperial Grandson Takes the Throne, and Old Zhu Is Driven to Despair

In the thirty-first year of Hongwu, Zhu Yuanzhang fakes his death and hides in a secret chamber to see how Zhu Yunwen will rule the empire.

But as soon as the edict of succession is issued, Zhu Yunwen shows up with poisoned wine, ready to kill Zhu Yuntong, the emperor’s grandson born to a concubine!

With nowhere left to turn, Zhu Yuntong awakens the System of the Greatest Emperor in History and summons thirty thousand Snow Dragon Cavalry to crush the Eastern Palace. He puts a blade to Zhu Yunwen’s throat and takes the throne!

Enraged, the old Zhu in the secret chamber is about to send the Imperial Guards to put down the uprising, but then he sees that the generals who appeared out of nowhere are all peerless warriors, and he doesn’t recognize a single one!

The old Zhu doesn’t dare make a move. Taking the alias “Master Huang,” he goes undercover among the people, hoping to find a pretext to reclaim the throne.

But the more he sees, the more alarmed he becomes: corrupt officials are executed, potatoes and sweet potatoes are introduced to end famine, an arms corps is built in six months, and Northern Yuan is pacified in three, with a triumphant campaign reaching Langjuxu Mountain… Lan Yu and the Huai-Xi nobles shout “Emperor of All Time” every day!

A year later, gazing at a prosperous age where foreign nations come to pay tribute, then looking at the battered blade he’d brought for his rebellion, the old Zhu falls into despair.

On the day Zhu Yuntong leads the army in person, the old Zhu rushes into the tent in a foot soldier’s armor and clings to his leg: “Dear grandson, Grandpa was wrong! Take me to war with you. I’ll even lead your horse as a foot soldier!”
