Pearl of the Orient, 1975

In the height of summer in 1975, an accidental clash on the southern border sent an already simmering situation suddenly spiraling out of control.

Li Dongzhu joins his unit at the forward position, while Danny O'Kane sails east with the fleet. Separated by a border and a strait, two groups of people who have never met are ordered to take up arms. Each carries unsent letters home, faded photographs, and memories from old battlefields.

No one knows where the first shot will ring out, let alone whether they will be able to return to their old lives once the storm has passed.

This is a story about soldiers, home, and choices.
