The Actress's Soft-Rice Husband Conquers the Summer Box Office with Cows

Lin Mo is widely regarded in the industry as a box-office poison, and is the kept boyfriend of top-tier star Su Qingyan.

Three years after graduating, every film he has seriously worked on has bombed. His debts are covered by the actress, and even her agent tells her to break up with him every day.

With nowhere else to turn, he takes a 500,000-yuan job from a renovation contractor and hastily cobbles together an animated film called The Ox Comes to deliver.

On opening day, it earns just 7,200 yuan and gets a 2.1 rating on Douban. The whole internet mocks it as the year’s worst film, and theaters announce its removal overnight.

No one could have imagined...

Stock investors turn the “trip-and-fall style” into a semiconductor mascot, while uncles and aunties rent out theaters to burn incense and pray for good fortune;

Netizens hail the dazed ox as an abstract masterpiece, and its memes sweep the internet;

On the fourth day in theaters, its daily box office tops three million yuan, and its screening share skyrockets from 0.1% to 30%, taking the entire summer season by storm!

When the director’s identity is revealed, the whole internet is stunned:

What? The director of the summer’s box-office juggernaut is that kept boyfriend who lives off an actress?!

Film critics collectively lose it, investors show up at his door with money, and his peers are left red-faced.

Lin Mo uses his share of the profits to buy his girlfriend a necklace, looking utterly calm:

I just made it for fun. How did it become a masterpiece?
