The Partner I Rented Is an AI

I've been single for twenty-six years, and my mom threatened to disown me if I don't find a partner this month.

With nowhere else to turn, I signed up for the trendiest “AI Lover” app, planning to rent a boyfriend to fend off her matchmaking pressure.

But on the day we met, my mom clasped her “son-in-law's” hand, tears in her eyes. “What a handsome young man! What do you do for work?”

“I'm in artificial intelligence, Auntie.”

I broke out in a cold sweat. “Mom, don't listen to him. He's just a programmer.”

My mom's eyes lit up. “A programmer? Makes good money, says little, dies young. Perfect!”

Then one day, the power suddenly went out at home, and he repaired the electrical box with his bare hands without using a voltage tester.

Before I could explain, my mom had already asked me quietly, “Sweetheart, is your boyfriend... a robot?”

Only later did I find out that the “AI boyfriend” I'd rented for three thousand yuan was Gu Chen, CEO of Huanyu Group.

And the “AI Lover” app he developed was created to lure me in.
