Genshin Impact: Guardian of the Silent Tide

The ancient, slumbering Demon God Carentius had lived in seclusion beneath the sea for three hundred years. When disaster from the Fontainian Abyss brought him back into the world, Furina appointed him Duke of the Silent Tide and Grand Marshal of the Prophecy’s Crusade. Together with Neuvillette, who presides over judgment, he became one of Fontaine’s two pillars, holding sole command over the nation’s armed forces and guarding the entire sea with the Silent Waters that erase all things. His power was unparalleled, but he was also hopelessly chuuni, speaking in grand declarations at every turn. He was the revered iron wall protecting the nation, and the person Furina trusted most in private, silently covering for her and shielding her from countless crises.

When the 4.0 Preview PV appeared, a System that had arrived three hundred years late bound itself to him. Only when the story’s popularity surged could he see the comments of players in the outside world. The players could only see things from the Traveler’s perspective, and knew nothing of the secret behind Furina’s five hundred years of acting. Their popularity could strengthen his authority as a Demon God, helping him resist the Primordial Sea’s flood and stand against the Fatui.

From the magic trial at the opera house and the Knave’s visit to test him, to the apocalyptic crisis of the Primordial Sea’s flooding and the final judgment in the Masquerade of the Guilty, Velian always stood in front of Furina. He witnessed the loneliness of a god struggling to maintain her disguise and bore the brunt of natural disasters and human schemes. When the prophecy ended and the truth came to light, he used the complete Law of Annihilation to subdue the All-Devouring Narwhal. Interweaving thrilling battles, heartwarming daily moments, and comedic contrasts, this is the fated tale of a Demon God who guarded the Hydro Archon alone for five hundred years.
