Water Margin: Hiding Out in the Pleasure Quarter, I Rise to the Top with a Fate-Changing Device

I'm Chen Wulang, manager of the Drunken Immortal Tower. It's one of the biggest entertainment houses in Bianjing, and I manage a hundred or so people.

Life was pretty good. I kept the books, managed the place, and dealt with the madam and the girls teasing me. The day Li Meiniang crouched down to undo my belt, I thought I was in for a good night. Then someone knocked at the door, interrupting us, and I got a wine jar to the head for my trouble.

The next day, I went to look at a house and met a strange man on the rooftop wearing thick-lensed glasses. He was selling something called a “Fortune-Rewriting Device,” claiming that wearing it could change my fate.

I didn't believe a word of it. Fists and brains are what really count.

But I went back anyway.

Because he said something that kept me awake for three nights

“Your fate has already been changed. It changed the moment you stepped through this gate.”
