During the Zhenguan era of the Tang Dynasty, three-year-old Princess Jinyang, Li Mingda (Little Xizi), found an old purse embroidered with strange patterns in the imperial garden.

When she opened it, she found a bright, warm, spacious house inside.

A little child about her age sat in the house, holding something called a "lollipop" and staring at her with big, round eyes.

Little Xizi sniffed. "Who are you? Why's your house so bright?"

Three-year-old Su Niannian tilted her head. "You talk so funny! Are you a little lady in ancient clothes who ran out of the TV?"

From then on...

Little Xizi would climb into the purse every few days and visit the modern world to sneak snacks, watch cartoons, and play on the slide.

Su Niannian, meanwhile, heard all sorts of "princess stories" from Little Xizi.

Empress Zhangsun noticed that her daughter had recently become especially sweet-tongued, and that her clothes smelled of a strange, fruity fragrance. "Xizi, did you sneak snacks from the imperial kitchen again?"

Little Xizi hid the purse and said in her baby voice, "N-no, I didn't!"

Su Niannian's mother noticed that her daughter had started slipping into dialect now and then. "Niannian, who taught you to say, 'Why are you so pretty'?"

Su Niannian hugged her stuffed bunny tight. "I-I heard it in a cartoon!"

There are no villains and no schemes.

Just two little darlings separated by a thousand years, secretly sharing candy and stories, healing each other's childhoods in the sweetest way.
