The Bickering Couple of the 1970s Accidentally Make the Whole Village Rich

[1970s setting + outrageous couple + lighthearted comedy + bickering sweethearts + farming and face-slapping + daily schemes against each other + feel-good wish fulfillment]

Su Tang, a modern-day workaholic, dies from overwork and opens her eyes in the 1970s, in the body of Zhao Xiuqin, the laziest, greediest, most shameless woman in Hongqi Brigade.

From the start, she is in dire straits: her family is at the bottom in work points, their food supplies are running out, and relatives keep showing up to mooch off them.

Worse still, she is forced to marry Zhou Jianguo, the brigade's other notorious loafer.

Each is lazier than the other, and each is better at putting on an act.

After binding to the "Hard Work Brings Wealth System," Su Tang discovers a huge loophole: if she can talk her husband into working, she gets the rewards!

So she starts making all sorts of promises and using every trick in the book to manipulate Zhou Jianguo into earning work points in the fields.

But who knew Zhou Jianguo had also bound himself to the "Raise Your Wife to Greatness System"? Every day, he pretends to be sick or on the verge of death, finding every way he can to trick his wife into working!

As these two master actors go further and further down the road of scheming against each other

His wicked mother shows up demanding money? The couple join forces: one plays poor, the other feigns madness, and they scare her away.

The lazy, greedy uncle's family wants to divide up the family property? Zhao Xiuqin fires back with a scene worthy of a shrew, and Zhou Jianguo follows up by throwing a public tantrum. Their outrageous relatives flee faster than rabbits.

Someone reports them for profiteering? The couple put on innocent faces: "We're just answering the call to develop side businesses!"

By the time everyone in the brigade catches on

The brigade chief frets every day: "How did the two laziest people in the brigade become the hardest-working millionaires?"

The villagers can only wonder: What other surprises are you two hiding from us?
