[Period] [Single Female Lead] [Daily Life] [Feel-Good] [Period Farming] [Getting Rich Through Coastal Foraging] [Rugged Man and His Sweet Wife]

In 1982, a tiny fishing village on the coast is home to a family with nothing but half a bowl of watery porridge left in the pot.

The villagers all laugh at Chen Ye, a rough-hewn veteran who has no idea of his own limits and married a stunning, down-on-her-luck educated youth from the city. They say she’ll starve and leave him sooner or later.

Seeing his delicate wife frown with hunger, Chen Ye plunges into the churning sea.

He awakens an affinity with the Sea God, can hold his breath for half an hour, and can pinpoint schools of fish!

When the villagers expect Chen Ye to come back empty-handed and make a fool of himself, he pulls out two premium spiny lobsters and a basketful of wild abalone instead! His snobbish relatives are stunned, and wealthy businessmen from the city come knocking in the middle of the night to buy his catch.

Chen Ye not only brings home rice, flour, cooking oil, and other essentials, but also buys his wife a pretty dacron dress and the coveted “three big items and one sound”: a bicycle, a sewing machine, a watch, and a radio.

From combing the nearby shore for overlooked treasures, to buying his first motorized fishing boat, then leasing thousands of acres of sea and building an ocean-going fleet...

See how this tough coastal forager in the 1980s uses the sea’s bounty to spoil his sweet wife rotten and build a global seafood empire, one step at a time!
