Reborn in My Fair Princess: Who's Pulling the Emperor's Strings?

Lin Wan, 35, is a core researcher for Kunlun, a mysterious national organization. Gifted from childhood, she taught herself the esoteric arts and had reached the Dao Saint realm by the age of 25. On her 35th birthday, she was watching My Fair Princess with her longtime friend Fang Yu when a bolt of lightning shot through the room and struck them. When she opened her eyes again, she had become Little Swallow, the troublemaking princess who had caused a scene in the imperial garden. Fang Yu, meanwhile, had become Empress Ula-Nara, sitting on the phoenix throne with hatred in her eyes.

Two personalities coexist within Little Swallow: the original is innocent, impulsive, and loves Yongqi with all her heart; Dao Saint Lin Wan is cool and detached, always eager to study the laws of spiritual energy in this world. While Ziwei is sobbing and clinging to her, Lin Wan might suddenly count on her fingers and say, “You’re due for a bloody mishap today. Don’t go out.” When Yongqi climbs over the wall to confess his love, she stares at the space between his brows and says, “Your fate is blessed by the Purple Tenuity star. If you’re willing to cultivate, you can live a hundred years longer.” Everyone just thinks she has gone mad again.

More dangerous still, this world has real cultivators. Zhao He, the “Master of Mysteries” from the Western Regions at Noble Consort Gao’s side, is actually an evil cultivator in the late Foundation Establishment stage. He uses Soul-Tethering Gu to steal Emperor Qianlong’s dragon energy and cultivates evil arts with the resentful souls of soldiers at the border, hoping to seize complete control of the court.

Fang Yu, now the empress, is the only person who knows the truth. The two of them agree on a secret signal: one will set things right in the imperial harem, while the other protects the emperor at court. All the original romances remain: Yongqi is still infatuated with her; Ziwei and Erkang are still willing to die for each other; Qing’er falls for Xiao Jian at first sight and loves him for life; Jinsuo waits devotedly for Liu Qing. But at every pivotal moment, a Little Swallow who is “sometimes crazy, sometimes profound” barges in, gradually transforming Qiong Yao-style tears and sobbing into an astonishing game of chess where immortals and mortals intertwine.
