The Twenty-First Affair

At fifty, Wan Jia'an, the fourth son of Nanan City's richest man, found himself swept up in an unexpected romance. He cheated with his gorgeous ex-wife, Liu Jinzi, whose figure was beyond compare. He once gave her his passionate, wholehearted love, only to discover that her heart had changed and that the stunning Liu had approached him with an ulterior motive. When Liu Jinzi crossed paths with the old man Wan Jia'an again, she was not only resourceful, with hundreds of schemes up her sleeve, but also had her closest friend acting as her strategist. To help her son, Wan Yixin, reclaim the Wan family's wealth and status, she was willing to pay any price. Toppling the immense power of the current wife's family, digging up Wan Jia'an's countless sordid affairs and acts of adultery, and exposing the witness he had betrayed ten years earlier were all child's play. She met Cao Jie, a people's police officer who loved her wholeheartedly and had been her school-days idol. She regarded him as a confidant and a friend. Caught between Wan Jia'an and Cao Jie, she betrayed her heart while searching for a way to make amends, and at one point even lost herself. In the end, Cao Jie's love brought her to her senses. She grew brave and learned to love herself. When she learned that the eldest Wan brother was implicated in three murders and that her son Wan Yixin had gone astray and become addicted to drugs, she finally woke up. With Cao Jie supporting her, she personally brought an end to the Wan family's vast, extravagant, corrupt empire and its grave crimes of murder and silencing witnesses. She even sent Wan Jia'an to prison with her own hands. Her son Wan Yixin entered rehab, and her rivals were left dejected. She became more tolerant, let go of her resentment, learned to forgive and move on, and made peace with herself.
