The Han Kingdom's Number One Couch Potato

What’s it like being the son of a general who surrendered?

Thanks for the invite. I’m in Shu Han, and I just got doused with slop.

It’s the first year of the Jianxing era. The late emperor has just died, and the young emperor has just taken the throne. I’m Huang Quan’s son, and everyone in Chengdu calls me a “little Han traitor.”

To stay alive, I have no choice but to pretend to be insane.

Liu Bei grants me an estate, so I move out of the city, farm, fish, and snack on melon seeds, becoming a model good-for-nothing.

The tenant farmers use me as a cautionary tale: “Don’t turn out bad, or you’ll end up like the master of the house!”

I’m perfectly happy with that.

Until one day, an ox cart stops on the main road. The person inside never shows their face, only reaching out a hand and waving it.

Only later do I learn that the owner of that hand is named Ma Su.

Later still, I realize that anyone whose life gets a wave from that hand can never hope to live in peace again.
