Just Pretending, No Need to Take It Seriously

Regretful pursuit · heroine awakens · two parallel journeys of growth · open ending After three years of marriage, Li Zhizhi believes her sincerity can melt Zheng Li's heart. Then she hears him say, “It was just an act. Have a child? No need.” Xu Zhimian returns to the country, and a single photo of them sitting side by side in a private room shatters all of Li Zhizhi's fantasies. She sees a photo of him putting shoes on Xu Mianmian. So he isn't naturally cold-hearted; he simply gave all his love to someone else. She deletes every contact and leaves the divorce papers in the study before walking away with nothing. Zheng Li thinks she's just throwing a tantrum, until Li Zhizhi lands the year's biggest project as CEO and appears alongside rising star Gu Yubai, setting the internet ablaze. Xu Zhimian's fake devotion is exposed, and Zheng Li loses his mind. Bringing her an umbrella in the rain, making her breakfast himself, anonymously investing in her company... He does for her all the things she once did for him. “We're divorced. Please stop bothering me.” One sentence from her in front of everyone, and he falls apart. Later, before Xu Zhimian leaves, she says, “He never loved me. He just couldn't accept losing.” Li Zhizhi smiles. “Then we were both pitiful in the same way.” A year later, at a charity gala celebrating their success, they exchange a smile.
