Reborn in 2001: Brother, I'm Back!

Chen Qinian is forty-two, successful in his career, with a gentle wife and a son and daughter.

But there has always been a thorn in his heart.

Twenty years ago, he had a brother in Legend of Mir. They hunted monsters together, camped out for bosses, and fought side by side in bloody battles at Sand City. They were so close they could share a pair of pants. During the siege of Shabak, Chen Qinian picked up a Judgment Staff, one of the best weapons in the game. Zimu cautiously asked if he could borrow it for a couple of days. Chen agreed without a second thought.

Six hours later, Zimu frantically told him the Judgment Staff had vanished into thin air. They searched every bag and the warehouse. Not a single other piece of equipment was missing, only the staff.

Chen Qinian fell silent. Convinced his brother wanted to keep it for himself, he said some particularly harsh things. Zimu was quiet for a long time, then replied only, “Then I have nothing to explain.” He logged off for good and vanished without a trace.

Years later, Chen finally learned the truth: the game company had quietly reclaimed the item. Zimu had never lied to him. But by then, he was nowhere to be found.

Chen had owed him an apology for twenty years.

Then one day, he collapsed from a cerebral hemorrhage. As his consciousness faded, a stone door slowly opened.

A voice asked him, “If you could return to that summer in 2001, would you find him?”

Chen Qinian was silent for a long time.

At last, the voice said, “You’ll have to find the real answer for yourself.”

He pushed open the door.

The breeze from Ginkgo Village brushed his face, and the horns of Bicheng City sounded in his ears. Watch as the protagonist stirs up the storm this time around.
