In the morgue instance, while everyone else hides from zombies, he makes a paper effigy to take someone's place in death.

In the ancient temple instance, while everyone else burns incense and prays to Buddha, he gives the Buddha statue a "consecration."

In the opera house instance, while everyone else dodges the ghost actress, he performs a shadow play onstage and sings her to tears.
