Reborn in 1937: Rescuing People on the Songhu Battlefield

While compiling a list of fallen soldiers from the War of Resistance, history student Zhou Xiao'an unexpectedly transmigrates to Nanjing in 1937. He discovers that an app on his phone, one he cannot uninstall, has turned into a “Roll of the Fallen,” sending him real-time updates about soldiers who will die within the next 24 hours.

He soon realizes that he cannot stop Nanjing from falling or change the outcome of any battle. The relentless tide of history rolls forward, crushing everything in its path. All he can do is, in the moments before disaster strikes, use his knowledge of historical details and this “foresight” to pull living, breathing people out from beneath the executioner’s blade, out of the artillery fire, and out of encirclement.

A forward artillery observer he saves might go on to line up a crucial shot in the Battle of Wuhan;

A female telegraph operator he saves might decipher a coded message that changes the course of a battle;

A military doctor he saves might rescue hundreds of wounded soldiers who were supposed to die…

He is a “fire thief” walking through the cracks of history. What he steals is not victory, but hope itself. When countless small destinies are rewritten, can the strength they bring together warm those bitter, frozen years, even just a little?
