Lost Dragon City: Searching for Dragons in Lop Nur

[Spy thriller | Adventure and mystery | Lost civilization | Lovecraftian horror | A family’s mission] Legend has it that before Lop Nur became known as the “Ear of the Earth,” a highly advanced prehistoric civilization once existed there. The Commentary on the Waterways Classic says: “Dragon City was once the land of the Jianglai, a great nation of the Hu. The waters of Lake Lop Nor overflowed and swallowed the kingdom. Its foundations remain, vast and immense. Leave through the western gate at dawn, and you will reach the eastern gate by dusk.” This prehistoric civilization was called “Dragon City” because it truly had dragons. No one knew where they came from, or why they vanished. In 1924, intelligence officer Jiang Xinbai, recently returned from abroad, was ordered to track a remnant force of the Russian White Army that had infiltrated Lop Nur. Deep in the desert, he discovered a sunken ancient royal city beyond human understanding, and learned that his bloodline was the only key capable of opening Dragon City.
