Making It in a Man's World: The Legend of an Esports Queen

This isn’t a story about a “female player.” It’s a story about winning.

It took Shen Yu three years to go from playing in internet cafes to standing at the top of the world. Driven to the brink by life, this young woman hid in the corner of a training camp with a mask on, carrying a hospital bill for her mother’s kidney failure in her pocket and clutching an old keyboard with its letters worn off. When everyone sneered, “What’s a woman doing playing esports?” she crushed the entire scene’s prejudice in Summoner’s Rift, claiming three world championship trophies and building an LPL dynasty with eight consecutive titles.
