Gu Nian for the Rest of My Life

Three years ago, Shen Niannian was caught in a trap. When she woke, she fled in a panic. All she remembered was the man’s profile. She didn’t know his name or where he was. All she knew was that a new life had begun growing inside her.

Three years later, Shen Niannian struggles to survive in the city’s urban village with her daughter, Shen An’an. At last, she lands an interview with Mingyuan Group. Her interviewer is the company’s CEO, Gu Jingchen, Jiangcheng’s youngest business prodigy. He’s said to be aloof, celibate, and unapproachable. He also wears a ring on his left ring finger, and the whole company is wondering if he’s gay.

Shen Niannian recognizes that profile. Her legs nearly give way, but thankfully, he doesn’t seem to recognize her.

On her first day, Gu Jingchen replaces her desk mat without expression because its colors are asymmetrical. The next day, he catches the familiar scent of lavender on her and nearly pounces on her on the spot. On the third day, her two-and-a-half-year-old daughter rides his office robot vacuum and sweetly says, “Hello, handsome big brother!”

Gu Jingchen doesn’t recognize Shen Niannian, but he recognizes the little girl.
