The Paranormal Investigation Bureau: The Great Sage’s Legacy Is a Trap

The rescue mission overseas ended with the entire squad wiped out.

Jiang Chen was pinned to a wall amid the ruins by a steel pipe. As he watched his comrades fall one by one, his consciousness sank into darkness.

The next second, a lazy-sounding Peking opera voice exploded in his head: “Enough! Which blind fool dares lay a hand on my man?!”

It claimed to be the remnant consciousness of the Great Sage, Equal to Heaven, the greatest fighter in the world and utterly useless at everyday tasks.

It didn’t know elevators were moving metal boxes, had never seen a phone, and, hearing “genetic testing,” asked, “What kind of chicken is a gene chicken?”

When it came to pursuing women, all it could offer was terrible advice: “Go flip right in front of her. Make it a good one! Back at Flower-Fruit Mountain, I did one flip and all the lady monkeys went wild!”

After returning to China, Jiang Chen was lured into the underground fortieth floor by the mysterious “National Meteorological Research Institute”: the Paranormal Incident Investigation Bureau’s Thirteenth Division.

This is the Dragon Nation’s most secret force, and the unit with the highest mortality rate. Every member is awakened to an ancient legacy: Erlang Shen’s Heavenly Eye, the Killing God’s murderous aura, and the Third Prince’s Wind-Fire Wheels.

The unit has already lost four division heads, and not one of them made it out alive.

Jiang Chen thought he was joining as an investigator. Instead, he became the next division head.

A survivor carrying the deaths of five people, with a foul-mouthed monkey master and a team of comrades whose lives are bound to his.

They fight in shadows untouched by neon, protecting the ordinary lives of billions of people who know nothing about the danger.

Other people’s legacies are golden fingers. His legacy is a trap.

But it doesn’t matter

Staying alive is the best retaliation.
