The First Emperor Holds a Baby at Court, and Her Babbling Can Rule the Realm

[Historical romance + transmigration + Qin Dynasty + pampered by everyone + adorable baby + baby talk + national fortunes + no romance + funny and lighthearted + no saintly heroine]

History graduate student Ruan Suisui opened her eyes to find she had become an abandoned newborn, just three days old, in the Qin Dynasty.

Abandoned in a mass grave outside Xianyang, wrapped in rags, she was cold and hungry, and too weak even to cry.

At last, an imperial carriage passing by took her in. All she wanted was to quietly live off everyone else and keep a low profile

But the moment she opened her mouth and babbled, auspicious clouds suddenly spread across the sky above Xianyang, and the nation’s fortune visibly rose!

When she wailed, the earth shook in Sanchuan Commandery that very night, and the nation’s fortune plunged!

Ying Zheng: “…”

The entire court: “…”

From then on, this tiny, toddler-sized baby became the national treasure of the entire Qin Empire.

Hungry? Eight hundred imperial chefs took turns waiting on her!

Cold? All the brocade tribute from the Six States was made into little clothes for her!

Upset? Li Si danced, Wang Jian made funny faces, Meng Tian whistled, and Zhao Gao became her riding horse!

Every day, the Emperor of a Thousand Ages held the baby in his arms during court, his face expressionless. “Ministers, speak quietly. Suisui just fell asleep.”

The officials fell silent, not daring to breathe too loudly.

Ruan Suisui let out a little baby burp, and golden light blazed in the sky above Xianyang Palace.

The civil and military officials all knelt at once. “Congratulations, Your Majesty! The nation’s fortune has risen again!”

Ying Zheng looked down at the little one blowing bubbles in his arms, and the corners of his mouth lifted in a rare smile.

Only then did the people of the realm discover the truth:

The Qin Empire’s most fearsome weapon wasn’t its million-strong army or its powerful repeating crossbows.

It was the little baby in the Emperor’s arms, babbling away and not even able to roll over.
