Confiscated and Exiled? I’ll Grow My Own Food and Raise My Dad!

At the execution grounds in the capital, the entire loyal family of the Prince of Zhenbei is sentenced to exile. The former god of war, Xiao Hanye, has both legs crippled and becomes a prisoner.

His only daughter, three-year-old Xiao Nuomi, doesn’t cry or fuss. She buries herself in the earth, a little red flower blooming from her head, and says in her baby voice, “Don’t move! I’m photosynthesizing, so I can grow the best ginseng fruit for Daddy to eat!”

Xiao Hanye is utterly despairing and wants nothing more than to take the emperor down with him, when he suddenly hears his daughter’s thoughts:

[Daddy’s leg bones hurt so much. Nuomi will pull out one of her roots and boil it into soup for Daddy, then he won’t hurt anymore...]

[That bad uncle is going to poison the water. Nuomi will get the big tiger to bite his butt off!]

Three thousand miles along the road to exile, through wind and snow. While everyone else gnaws on tree bark, Xiao Nuomi rides on a tiger’s back and wipes the tears of blood from the corners of her father’s eyes.
