A Long-Sealed Book of Sin

An unsolved disappearance has haunted retired detective Shangguan Jiangshuo for years. When he returns to the Lanshan City Police Department as a consultant after many years away, the seemingly peaceful town is already shrouded in a string of bizarre murders. The scenes are disturbingly spotless, with no clues to be found, and the victims' deaths are utterly inexplicable. Panic spreads, and rumors run wild.

As the younger officers struggle to make headway, Shangguan Jiangshuo draws on the instinct etched into his bones and decades of investigative experience to team up with Lin Wan, a young, energetic rookie cop. Together, they trace connections through the faintest clues and dig for the truth through layers of fog. As their investigation deepens, they are shocked to discover that the serial murders stem from the “8.15 Disappearance Case” that forced Shangguan Jiangshuo into retirement with regrets years ago. The case also exposes a local web of corruption that has long held sway in Lanshan, along with heinous crimes deliberately buried from view.

The cunning killer watches their every move from the shadows, even setting traps and taunting them. Shangguan Jiangshuo and Lin Wan must overcome one obstacle after another and engage this highly intelligent criminal in a battle of wits. When all the fragments are finally pieced together, a truth buried for more than a decade at last comes to light.
