The Lonely Wild Goose: Biography of Jing Tang

During the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, warlords carved up the land, smoke from battle filled the skies, and the people lived in misery. The grandeur of the Great Tang had long since vanished. The once-noble clans had either fallen into the dust or become the lapdogs of the powerful.

Shangguan Yangu, grandson of the late Tang general Shangguan Yi, returns bearing his grandfather’s final charge and a fragment of the “Jade Token of Returning to Tang.” He quietly makes his way through the chaos. His mission is to find the other four tokens scattered across the Ten Kingdoms and reunite them into the complete Jade Token of Returning to Tang. With it, he can rally the “Loyalists of Tang” who still yearn for their fallen homeland, restore the realm, and reshape the world.

Starting in Bianliang, capital of Later Jin, he will face one deadly trial after another alone, relying on his wits and strength. He will encounter betrayal from the most loyal of allies, and find unexpected companions in his darkest moments. Amid the cold flash of blades and schemes for power, an unlooked-for tenderness quietly takes root in his heart, scarred by countless wounds.

This is a homecoming paved with blood and fire, and the journey of a lonely soul seeking a place to belong in a world torn by war. When the name “Yan Guilai” resounds across the land, what will he bring back: the glorious Great Tang, or an era of his own?
