Synopsis

The most powerful person in history was not Qin Shi Huang or Emperor Wu of Han, nor Tang Taizong or Song Taizu, nor Genghis Khan, Temujin, or Alexander the Great. It was not even Queen Victoria, who built the British Empire on which the sun never set. It was Batu, the Saiyin Khan, who led the western campaign with his eldest son, marched from the Mongolian steppe to the gates of Vienna, and established the Golden Horde.

As a young man, Batu joined his father Jochi on campaigns across the lands, earning great distinction and strengthening the calls for Jochi to become heir to the Mongol Great Khan. Yet doubts about Jochi's parentage kept him excluded from the line of succession. Rumors haunted him until he died, embittered and disheartened.

Batu inherited Jochi's lands. Thanks to his exceptional ability, he became commander of the western campaign, leading 150,000 horsemen from the Mongolian steppe all the way to Vienna. He swept through the Rus principalities, captured Hungary, launched a lightning attack on Poland, overran Moscow, and watered his horses in the Danube. With just 40,000 horsemen, he routed a European coalition army of 400,000, conquering more than twenty countries in seven years.

After Great Khan Ogedei died, the princes on the western campaign returned east to compete for the throne. Riding the momentum of his victories, Batu held the Kipchak Steppe and founded the vast Golden Horde. Europeans called him Saiyin Khan, while the Russians of his time revered him as “Tsar Batu.”

Afterward, tensions between Batu and the Mongol Great Khan Guyuk reached the breaking point. Just as the situation turned critical, Guyuk died suddenly. With an iron fist, Batu installed Mongke as Great Khan, becoming the power broker of the Mongol Empire. Combined with his position as Great Khan of the mighty Golden Horde, his power was unparalleled throughout history, making him the most dazzling figure at the peak of power in the thirteenth century.

Discovering a Divine Book

It's So Rare to Find an Apocalypse Novel Without Stockpiling Anymore

I’ve been browsing apocalypse novels lately, and they all seem to be about stockpiling supplies or romance. Are there any more male-oriented apocalypse stories with zombies and supernatural abilities, but no stockpiling? A female lead is optional. Ideally, the protagonist is reborn.

Please Recommend Stories That Show the Dark Side of Human Nature

The character should ideally be a “round” character, meaning they should have many different sides and not be one-dimensional.

Looking for a Novel

The protagonist can dream things into reality, I think. It can include the Queen from Resident Evil, the technology from The Three-Body Problem, and the Gate of Eternal Life. That’s about all I can remember.

Brilliant Historical Fiction, Rated 9 or Higher, Meticulously Researched, with a Down-to-Earth Protagonist

I've read a lot of stories like this, even some highly rated ones, but their protagonists all seem to have an arrogant, godlike perspective. Since they know how things unfold and how they end, they spoil everything for the locals and act smug about it. It's really uncomfortable, and they show no respect for history.

The Pinnacle of Historical Fiction

I'm looking for the definitive masterpiece for each historical era, the one that no other work can match. For example, the Song dynasty's greatest work is "Song of the Southern Dynasty". Are there similar books for other dynasties?

Historical Novels Based on Official History

Historical novels based on official history, not unofficial accounts. Any dynasty is fine, but it absolutely has to be official history! Official history! Please! Historical fiction is really useful to me.
