The White Moonlight Returns, and the Mad Emperor Begs for a Place in Her Heart

[Amnesia + real and fake husbands + reunion after a long separation + ruthless pursuit + winning back a wife + devoted couple]

[Embroidery girl VS emperor]

A Yuan loses her memory. Pei Yunjin calls her Xi He, telling her that he is the son of a wealthy Jiangnan merchant and that she is an embroiderer in his household. They fell in love, but their families would not accept them, so they eloped together.

On the way, bandits attacked them. She took an arrow for him, then got caught in the rain and developed a high fever. After that, she forgot everything.

Now Xi He is haunted by a recurring dream: an eerie ruined temple, a pair of entwined statues of the Joyful Buddha, a man whose face she cannot make out, and a beggar child singing a singsong tune.

“Who are you, really?”

“Aren’t you Pei Lang?”

“Do I... know you?”

The young man in white moves his lips, but Xi He cannot hear a thing.

Then, at the prayer festival, she encounters the emperor, Xiao Linyan. Dressed in blue and white brocade, his hair frosted white, with sharp brows and phoenix eyes, he is peerlessly handsome, yet not a trace of warmth touches his face. His very presence warns others to keep their distance.

Xi He’s heart suddenly tightens.

Everyone says the emperor is obsessed with seeking the Dao because of a woman.

They say something happened to her and she disappeared many years ago, without leaving a single clue. The emperor pined for her until lovesickness turned his hair white. How devoted!

Later, when Xi He remembers everything, the cold palace, the ruined temple, the token of their love, and the helplessness of the night she left, nothing is as it was. Xiao Linyan holds her tightly in his arms. “A Yuan, it’s time you gave me a title.”

Deep in the night, I dream again of our youth. Only the gentle moonlight and you know the truth.
