Jade in the Flowing Light

In the thirty-first year of Hongwu, Tie Xuan, then a Supervising Secretary in the Ministry of Rites, had another daughter. Four years later, the capital fell and Tie Xuan was captured and taken to the capital. With his back to the throne, he berated the Chengzu Emperor as unjust and dishonorable, and was subjected to an agonizing execution. His wife and daughters were sent to the Imperial Entertainment Bureau.

Years later, a young woman named Yu'er appeared in Nanjing. With bright, clever eyes, she made a living through weaving and learned to do business amid hardship, all to raise the ransom money and save her mother and elder sister.

Fortunately, fate smiled on her. She met a good man and found a kindred spirit.

The refined gentleman and the free-spirited young man are both among the finest people in the world.
