Back to 1976: King of the Hunt in the Changbai Mountains

In his previous life, Lu Hanqing was a ne’er-do-well who hung around the streets. After his older brother died unexpectedly, he watched helplessly as his kind and gentle sister-in-law, Shen Qiuyue, was bullied by the village tyrant. She had only gone to beg for a little cornmeal to save Lu Hanqing’s life, but in despair, she leapt into an icy river. After coming to his senses, Lu Hanqing disappeared into the old forests of Changbai Mountain. For eighteen years, he fought wild beasts and mastered the art of living off the mountain. When he opened his eyes again, he was reborn in the snowbound winter of 1976. The family’s rice jar was nearly empty, and his gaunt sister-in-law was biting her lip, preparing to humble herself and beg the village tyrant for grain. “Sister-in-law, as long as I’m here, you’ll eat meat at every meal from now on!” Lu Hanqing stopped her, grabbed the rusty old rifle from the corner, took his emaciated yellow dog, and plunged into the vast snowy mountains. After unlocking a portable cold-storage space, his prey could stay fresh indefinitely! With his hunting skills perfected in his previous life, Lu Hanqing turned his fortunes around in the snowy wilderness. He set snares for snow hares, tracked down roe deer, and led a pack of dogs to bring down a 700-pound black bear! In an era so poor that the whole village would gather to watch someone eat a meal of white flour, he secretly turned Changbai Mountain into his own meatpacking plant! He raised the fiercest hunting dogs, became a black-market trader, and protected the beauty at his side. Watch as Lu Hanqing rises through this wild and turbulent era to become a tycoon renowned throughout Manchuria!
