My Ex-Boyfriend Is My Boss

Three months after their breakup, Lu Zhenghuai runs into Shen Tong at a bar.

She’s wearing a cheap promotional uniform, carrying a tray of drinks, and smiling at every customer.

He picks up his glass, wanting to see how long she can keep this up.

Only later does he learn that her mother is in the hospital and her father has just been laid off.

She never told him a single word about any of it.

The day she disappeared, he searched the entire city for her.

Three years later, she shows up for an interview at his company.

“You’re hired,” he says.

“Thank you, Mr. Lu,” she replies.

From then on

He’s the boss she has to report to every day.

She’s his personal secretary, who leaves breakfast on his desk that he won’t touch for three days.

He pursues; she evades. He advances; she retreats. He humbles himself; she remains polite.

The whole company is laughing at Mr. Lu.

Only he knows

how much he has missed her these past three years.
