Great Tang: Ordered to Marry for Good Fortune, Li Er Panics Outside the Door

In the second year of the Zhenguan era, Empress Zhangsun suddenly falls gravely ill, her life hanging by a thread.

Sun Simiao declares that only someone with a pure-yang birth chart can save her, using the ancient method of “transferring qi to bring good fortune.”

The impoverished scholar Xie Chang'an is secretly brought into the imperial palace and onto the phoenix bed because his birth chart matches.

On the bed lies Empress Zhangsun, mother of the empire, peerlessly graceful and beautiful.

Outside the door stands Li Shimin, the emperor of the ages, eyes bloodshot and the Son of Heaven's sword in hand, ready to kill anyone who knows too much!

Just as Xie Chang'an thinks he is surely going to die...

[Ding! Successfully brought good fortune to Empress Zhangsun. Reward: Great River Sword Intent and Earthly Immortal Realm!]

Half an hour later, the doors are flung open.

Roaring with rage, Li Shimin charges in with his sword: “You brat! I'll tear you limb from limb!”

Xie Chang'an sighs and casually brings two fingers together, then sweeps them through the air.

Boom!

A hundred-zhang sword aura cleaves through the entire Taiji Square, splitting the clouds in the heavens in two!

The assembled officials drop to their knees, terrified out of their wits.

The Son of Heaven's sword clatters from Li Shimin's hand. Without hesitation, he drops to his knees and bows forward: “Li Shimin, emperor of the Tang Dynasty, pays his respects to the Immortal! I beg the Immortal to protect the Tang!”

From then on, the Tang Dynasty gains a hidden powerhouse who makes the whole world tremble.

The Turkic Khagan: “Who said the Tang was weak and easy to bully? That scholar flattened my royal tent with a single sword strike!”

The aristocratic clans: “Please, Immortal, spare us your powers! We're all bankrupt!”
