Espionage: I Took Their Advice and Cleared Out the Special Higher Police

Lu Chengyuan transmigrated to the eve of the 1937 Battle of Shanghai and became the maverick commander of a local security force, the Shanghai Security Corps.

Poorly equipped and a hodgepodge of units, they were about to be sent to the front lines as cannon fodder.

At the critical moment, the “God-Tier Advice-Taking System” bound itself to him. As long as he followed other people's advice, he would receive troops and equipment as rewards!

The deputy commander said, “Commander, the Japanese firepower is too strong. I advise you to retreat and preserve our strength!”

Lu Chengyuan replied, “All right, it's wise to listen to advice. The whole corps, fall back fifty meters!”

[Ding! Advice taken successfully. Reward: one battalion of German 88 mm antiaircraft guns and an elite gunner card!]

The next second, a rain of artillery fire reduced the Japanese positions to rubble.

The deputy commander was dumbfounded. “Commander, I told you to preserve our strength, and you turned around and wiped out an entire Japanese regiment?”

Lu Chengyuan looked innocent. “I listened and retreated, didn't I? Doesn't suppressing them with fire count as preserving our strength?”

The theater commander said, “Lu Chengyuan, the situation is complicated. I advise you to keep a low profile in the Shanghai International Settlement and avoid provoking the Special Higher Police.”

Lu Chengyuan replied, “Don't worry, sir. I'm the very picture of discretion.”

That night, Lu Chengyuan infiltrated the Japanese intelligence bureau and made everyone there, along with all their secret documents, physically disappear.

The commander exclaimed, “I told you to keep a low profile, and you blew up the Special Higher Police headquarters?!”

Lu Chengyuan replied, “Sir, not a single Japanese left in all of Shanghai knows what happened. Isn't that low-profile enough?”

And so, from the start of the Battle of Shanghai, Lu Chengyuan kept “taking advice.”

As he listened, his Security Corps became an iron tide, sweeping everything before it. The Japanese cried and begged him to stop taking advice...
