The Haunted Dream of Dream of the Red Chamber

Synopsis of Dream of the Red Chamber: Strange Dreams

Shen Yanshu, a PhD in classical literature, is drawn into a supernatural incident because of an online post. She discovers bloodstains and claw marks hidden in her family’s antique copy of Dream of the Red Chamber. Then, following the instruction, “Open the book at midnight on the third day of the third month,” her soul travels into the Grand View Garden.

But this is no realm of the living. Daiyu is a resentful spirit who coughed up blood and died; Baoyu is the remnant soul of the Divine Stone, sustaining an illusion through his obsession. The Twelve Beauties are all trapped by their fixations, doomed to repeat their deaths for eternity. They don’t know they’re ghosts, or that this “garden of splendid flowers” is in fact an outpost of the underworld.

Shen Yanshu must unravel each person’s obsession and set three hundred years of wronged souls free. The price: ten years of her life, and nightmares she’ll never be able to forget.
