Story of Minglan: Glowing Guifen, A Match Made for Zheng

Zhang Guifen, the legitimate daughter of the Duke of Ying's household, was supposed to marry Zheng Xiao, the second son of the Marquis of Zhongjing, her childhood sweetheart. But fate had other plans. In the original story, they were cruelly mismatched and she suffered one injustice after another. Fortunately, Heaven had a change of heart. While the old emperor was still alive, an elder of the Zheng family dreamed of a warning, and strange changes in the stars foretold political turmoil and chaos ahead. The two families understood each other without a word, both afraid that the imperial court might one day make a disastrous match and tear apart two people in love. While the realm was still at peace and the times remained stable, the families hastily settled the marriage contract, binding the childhood friends, who had grown up together and fallen for each other, in a happy match. No melodramatic imperial decree forcing them to marry, no scheming behind closed doors. A spirited noblewoman and the upright, brave young General Zheng. The marquis's household is virtuous, the parents-in-law kind, and the sisters-in-law harmonious. No first love to pine for, no troublesome relatives, no household infighting. From childhood understanding to lifelong companionship, with a bowl of hot soup and company through all four seasons, one devoted couple for life, safe and content through the years, blessed with a happy ending.
