The One Who Cuts Off the Supply

In 2026, the global economy falls into a Great Depression. Seven deities claiming to embody “positive energy” descend upon the world: the God of Communication, the God of Striving, the God of Gratitude… They promise to save the world, but secretly feed on humanity’s most private emotions. Fifty years later, in 2076, technology has stagnated, innovation has dried up, and society is as oppressive as a stagnant pool.

Wang Zizai is 28, a failed entrepreneur buried in debt. Debt collectors bombard him with calls every day, driving him to the edge of a breakdown. Even sunlight seems painfully harsh.

Then, one night before dawn, he opens his heavenly eyes.

Colors coil above everyone’s heads. Dark red means harassment, lead gray means humiliation, ocher means overextension, fluorescent green means envy… The seven deities are harvesting emotional energy nonstop through capital, institutions, and the hardships of daily life. Every moment of an ordinary person’s suffering is an offering to them.

He snaps the dark red thread above his own head. The next day, every debt collection call has vanished. Sunlight shines into his room once more.

“I am no god’s sacrifice.”

Wang Zizai awakens the innate skill “Sever Karma,” which cuts the energy link between people and the gods. Using a foot massage shop as cover, he joins forces with food delivery riders crushed by life, a retired electrician, and a hacker girl to form the “Cutoff” organization. He has only one belief: live for himself. His emotions are his own, and he won’t pay tax on them.

While the whole world kneels before the idols, he teaches ordinary people to pull out the bloodsucking network cable.
