In the real-world city of Zhenghang, countless invisible anomalies lie scattered without warning or pattern throughout ordinary places: streets, apartment hallways, road corners, underground garages, and more. When a rift opens, it engulfs part of the city and transforms it into a region warped by urban legends.
On the surface, the area perfectly overlaps with reality. Its buildings, streets, and shops remain unchanged, with no visible signs of bloodshed or the supernatural. Ordinary people out for a walk, on their way somewhere, or commuting might wander inside and initially notice only that the sky is a little dim, the wind sounds strange, and their phone signal is glitching. They have no idea they’ve already left the dimension of reality.
As they venture deeper into the area, their sense of direction, spatial awareness, and perception of time are completely distorted. The way back leads to a dead end, familiar streets loop endlessly, the compass on their phones spins wildly, and daylight quickly sinks into a thick twilight. Then the bizarre entities from all kinds of urban legends begin to appear, following, hunting, and luring in the living who wandered inside.
And in this entire transformed region, rife with deadly dangers, the only absolutely safe place is the randomly appearing No. 555 Convenience Store.
It doesn’t exist on any real-world map. The store cannot be found in any official registry, navigation app, or street-view image of Zhenghang City. Only when a horror region takes shape does it randomly set down roots in some corner of the area.
