The Poison Doctor Is Hard to Woo, but the Shadow Guard Is Utterly Loyal

In the bustling streets of Jiangnan, Gu Qingluo, an eccentric female poison doctor, lives by her own rules. She saves people when she feels like it and poisons them when they catch her eye. When her silver needles come out, even the King of Hell trembles.

No one knows she was once the heir to a prestigious family renowned for mastery of both medicine and poison. After her family was wiped out overnight, she changed her name and lived like a carefree street loafer.

Until one day, she brought home a blood-soaked man. Wei Zheng, the former commander of the imperial secret guards, was decisive and ruthless. Betrayed and left on the brink of death, he barely survived. When he woke, Gu Qingluo was crouched beside him, sucking on a candied hawthorn and counting his wounds. “Seventeen in all. Saving you will cost extra.”

From then on, the martial world gained a curious sight: a “shadow” who followed the poison doctor everywhere, cold-faced but warm-hearted, and fiercely protective of her. Someone called Gu Qingluo a witch? Wei Zheng drew his sword. “Say that again, and I’ll cut out your tongue.” Someone tried to ambush her? Wei Zheng buried them in advance, then came back with osmanthus cakes for her.

Gu Qingluo said, “I’m a heartless person. I’m not worth you doing all this for.” Wei Zheng knelt on one knee and offered her his sword. “From this day forward, this subordinate will follow only you.”

The truth behind the massacre emerges, and the secret guard organization relentlessly pursues them. The poison doctor reveals her prowess, while the former guard breaks free of his chains. Together, they roam the martial world and turn its fortunes upside down. You saved me when I was near death; I’ll keep you safe for all your days. This road through the martial world is long, so let’s walk it together.
