Transmigrating to the Wilderness: I Tame the Lion King with Food

Lu Xingyan is a food blogger who livestreams himself cooking every day. The moment he opens his eyes, he finds himself in a primeval forest in a savage beastfolk era.

There’s no salt, no pottery, and no fire. Surrounded by towering trees that blot out the sky and the roars of strange beasts, he trembles in the linen apron he wore on his livestream, his skin soft and tender.

Yun Zheng, the youngest chieftain of the Rock Tribe, takes the form of a silver-maned lion. He finds this strange little creature at the edge of the forest and carries him back to the tribe in his mouth. In front of everyone, he announces, “This is my mate.”

The tribe members shake their heads. “Someone this weak won’t survive the winter!”

Lu Xingyan says nothing. He quietly sets up a stone griddle and roasts the first piece of meat. The day its aroma drifts through the air, the whole tribe goes wild. With a handful of wild onions, a few animal bones, and a clay pot he made himself, he stews a flavor this world has never known.

Starting with a single pot, he builds a city, then a nation. He finds salt deposits, fires bricks and tiles, weaves linen, and builds schools, leading his tribe from hunger to ruling thousands of miles of land.

And from the very first bowl of hot soup, the silver-maned lion can’t take his eyes off him.

“I made the food, so does that mean you’re mine, too?”
