Siheyuan: No More Games, an Officer Raids the House from the Start

[Siheyuan] [Period Piece] [System] [Scheming] [Dimensional Overmatch] [Subverting the Usual Tropes] [Privileged Lifestyle] [Workplace and Officialdom]

Reborn in a Siheyuan in the late 1950s, Lu Changfeng finds himself facing moral blackmail and property grabs at a meeting of the entire courtyard. Faced with hypocritical neighborhood leaders and greedy neighbors, Lu Changfeng refuses to waste time arguing. He takes an all-or-nothing approach, gathering evidence of their crimes overnight and reporting it directly to higher authorities, summoning the municipal military control commission and a special task force! When jeeps and armed personnel seal off the Siheyuan, the so-called "neighborhood leaders" crumble on the spot. His meritorious report earns Lu Changfeng a double post as a cadre in both the security office and the logistics department of a state-owned machinery factory. He also awakens the "Karma Farm System." Whenever one of the courtyard's beasts loses out to him, gets rattled, or is punished, they drop "bitter fruit seeds." Plant them on the farm, and by the next day he can harvest premium pork, rice, flour, cooking oil, and even all kinds of scarce ration coupons. From then on, Lu Changfeng shuts his doors and feasts on meat every day, building up his household; outside, he puts on the mantle of an official and uses his cadre privileges to crush the courtyard beasts with legitimate, overwhelming force. While the beasts are still fretting over cornmeal, the Lu family is already living a heavenly life of privilege. You dare mess with me? Your bath coupons are suspended, your background is under review, and you'd better get ready to dig sand in the northwest!
