[Cai Jia] Us

(Dual POV, mostly third-person from Jaguzi’s perspective. Kai may be first-person or third-person, haven’t decided yet. Slow updates, happy ending, a little angst. Includes one bit of personal headcanon about the two of them.) (If you’re not a fan of this pairing, give it a try anyway, you might end up shipping them too ✧₍^˶- ˕ -˵^₎✧) A story about the long lives of Kai and Jaguzi. A human life is far too long. Along this road, rushing ever onward, everyone’s experiences are different, and the worlds they build from them are just as distinct. Faced with the same thing, some see only the side turned toward the sun, while others see the side in shadow. Even so, everyone carries a light deep in their heart, one that guides them forward. This light is not limited to the kindness the world defines as good. It takes countless forms. It need not be the pure goodness that people praise. Love, obsession, resentment, even hatred, can all become this light. It has no single name. It is simply the conviction that sustains someone and gives them a reason to keep living. No one lives without something to lean on. Everyone keeps a light deep in their heart that belongs to them alone. Some find their light in protecting others, while others find their own guiding conviction in the darkness. Neither light is right or wrong. The story is told mainly through two perspectives. The two experience the same things, yet arrive at completely different answers. In truth, neither of them is wrong. Many things simply have no single right answer. The lights they each pursue were leading in different directions from the very beginning.
