Drifting on the Bian River

Yang Shi, a graduate student in history, transmigrates to the final years of the Northern Song, believing he can change the Jingkang Disaster. He writes letters, passes along messages, and offers advice, doing everything he can. The Jin army still arrives, the city is still besieged, and not one of the tragedies that were meant to happen is spared.

At last, he understands: he cannot change history. All he can do in this world-shattering age is record the names of those forgotten by the history books.

More than nine hundred years later, an archaeological team unearths his diary. On the last page, it reads:

“I am old. I accomplished nothing in this life. But you will not be forgotten again.”
