For the Rest of My Life, I’ll Never Forget You

Quiet and introverted, Su Nian has a secret no one knows: she likes Gu Xu, the class monitor who enjoys reading psychology books. At a strict school where romance is considered taboo, all she can do is write her girlish feelings in a locked diary, filling its pages with countless lines of “G, I love you so much.”

Then one day, their homeroom teacher seats them together.

The occasional brush of fingertips, sharing breakfast under the desk, the furtive glances she steals while he runs... In the blind spots of the surveillance cameras, the stirrings of youth cannot be disciplined away.

But in the end, he has to leave first. On a rainy day, he slips her a letter, and with it, seven years of longing.

Years later, they meet again at a lectern at Peking University. He is an up-and-coming author of psychology books, and she is a gifted associate professor in the mathematics department. The yellowed “Stray Birds” is opened once more. Does the unanswered question still linger in the days of their youth?

[Can the feelings left unspoken that year finally be put into words, little by little, over the rest of their lives?]

Based on a true story.
