Great Ming: I Keep Courting Death, and Old Zhu Begs Me to Become Chief Minister

Lu Changfeng transmigrates to the Hongwu era of the Ming dynasty and binds himself to the [Ascension System].

If the tyrant Zhu Yuanzhang personally orders him executed, he will ascend on the spot and return to the modern world as the richest man alive!

To get himself killed as quickly as possible, Lu Changfeng hands in a blank paper at the imperial examination’s final round and writes a shocking “Proclamation Against Emperor Hongwu.”

“Paying people beggar’s wages for work that gets them beheaded is just forcing honest people into prostitution!”

“Keeping the vassal princes in luxury while squeezing every last drop out of the people will have this pack of pigs draining the Ming dynasty dry sooner or later!”

“Ruling through butchers, with torture and wanton slaughter, will bring down the Ming dynasty!”

When the essay appears, the officials at court are scared out of their wits and rush to prepare a coffin for this madman.

Who could have guessed that after reading it, Zhu Yuanzhang wouldn’t draw his sword? Instead, he breaks into a cold sweat and bolts upright in the middle of the night.

“The entire court is full of flatterers. This is the only man who would rather die than make me see the truth!”

“Heaven has bestowed upon our Ming dynasty a peerless, selfless minister!”

At court the next morning, Lu Changfeng eagerly awaits his execution, only to hear an imperial decree: “Lu Changfeng is loyal and courageous. He is granted an iron certificate of immunity from death and appointed Imperial Preceptor of the Ming dynasty!”

Lu Changfeng is devastated. Old Zhu, what is wrong with you? I insulted you like that and you still won’t kill me?!

From then on, an utterly reckless oddball appears at the Ming court.

He kicks the Minister of Revenue, beats up arrogant generals, and yells insults right in the crown prince’s face.

Lu Changfeng: “Your Majesty, I’ve committed another capital offense. Hurry up and behead me!”

Zhu Yuanzhang, with tears in his eyes: “My dear minister is willing to risk his life to help me purge the court of its corrupt elements! Even if I have to bear the name of a foolish ruler, I will protect you!”

The entire court is losing it. Your Majesty, open your eyes! This madman is about to turn the whole Ming dynasty upside down!
