Peach Blossom Debt in Journey to the West: The Mortal Tribulation of the Victorious Fighting Buddha

Five hundred years ago, a spirit stone on Flower-Fruit Mountain cracked open, and a stone monkey sprang out. Beside him stood a peach tree that sheltered him from wind and rain and healed his wounds. Five hundred years later, the stone monkey became the Victorious Fighting Buddha, and the peach tree cultivated herself into a peach blossom spirit. The Buddha said, “You owe her a fated love. Go down to the mortal realm and repay it.” And so the Great Sage Equal to Heaven was reborn as a frail scholar, waiting in a small Jiangnan town for a girl who no longer remembered him.
