New My Fair Princess Sequel: Mistaken Identities

Xiao Yanzi sneaked back to the capital to surprise Yongqi. The moon was bright that night. She hid behind a tree and saw him, and the person in his arms.

She didn’t say a word. She turned around and went back to Dali.

Later, Yongqi came after her and stood in the rain for days. Her heart softened. After that, she thought some things were behind them. On certain nights, she sat alone, resting a hand on her belly and staring into space.

Later still, someone found a badly injured young woman at the bottom of a cliff. She couldn’t remember her name or why she had fallen from such a height.

Sometimes, in her dreams, a voice called her name, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t picture the face.

Yongqi searched for her for a long time. At last, the day he found her, she looked at him and quietly asked:

“Who are you?”

Had she truly forgotten, or are some things better forgotten than remembered?
