All of Great Song Watches the Sky Screen: The Mute Prince Wants to Be a Tyrant

In the imperial palace of the Great Song, there is a prince everyone pretends doesn’t exist.

Zhao Yao is five years old and still can’t speak. He spends all day sitting in a corner, staring blankly into space. In private, the palace servants call him “the little mute.”

He’s treated worse than a princess.

Everyone thinks the foolish, mute boy will be like this for the rest of his life.

Until one day, the sky screen appears.

In the vision, the mute prince everyone takes for an idiot is dressed in a black dragon robe, seated on the throne.

He speaks.

His voice is low, his composure chilling:

“During my ten years on the throne, I confiscated estates and exterminated families. Rivers of blood flowed.”

“They called me a tyrant.”

On the screen, Zhao Xin smiles. His smile is as gentle as jade, exactly like that of the little mute sitting in the corner, staring blankly into space.

But everyone senses a blade hidden behind that smile.

“And yet,” Zhao Xin in the vision says, slowly rising to his feet and looking down at the people kneeling all around him, “every person I killed deserved to die.”

“I cut every rotten bone out of the Great Song, one by one.”

“As for how later generations curse me...”

“I don’t care.”

The sky screen goes dark.

The officials of the court look at the little mute still staring blankly in the corner and fall completely silent.
