After Losing My Job, My Medicine Shook the World

After being laid off, researcher Lin Zhixing discovers a hypothesis left behind by his mentor in a basement. A System from the future tells him that every patient he treats and every advance he makes in science will unlock a groundbreaking technology.

From making a splash with a preprint to conquering ALS, from being besieged by industry giants to showing the world what Chinese science can do, he only wanted to fulfill his mentor’s dying wish. Yet step by step, he rewrote the history of human medicine.

“Data doesn’t lie.” That was his creed. What carried him through his darkest hours were his mother’s steamed buns at four in the morning, his father’s quiet pride, and the light rekindling in his patients’ eyes.

This is not just a scientist’s comeback story, but a story about being “seen.”
