The Lazy One Became the Regent’s Favorite

Her legitimate older sister knelt in the snow and begged her. “Little sister, I can’t marry the Prince Regent. I’ll die.”

She munched on an apple and mumbled, “I know, I know. He’s a jinx to his wives.”

“I already have someone I love. If I have to marry him, I’d rather shave my head and become a nun!”

She stretched lazily. “All right, then I’ll go.”

The imperial decree only said it had to be the legitimate daughter, after all. It didn’t name anyone in particular.

She married in splendor, with her whole family feeling guilty, and planned to eat, drink, and wait for death.

She spent her days in the inner residence eating, drinking, and enjoying herself, paying no attention to the Prince Regent’s searching gaze.

Until one day, she realized she was still alive and, in fact, seemed to be living even more freely than before she married.

Huh, maybe this prince isn’t so bad after all?
